Joanne Kwong,
M.SSci, RCC, BCBA

Joanne Kwong is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC #27879) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors and a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA). She holds a Master of Social Science in Counselling from the University of Hong Kong and brings more than 19 years of experience supporting children, teens, adults, parents, couples, and families through emotional, behavioural, developmental, and relationship challenges.

In 2026, Joanne completed her Trauma-Informed Practice Certificate, further strengthening her counselling practice. Her approach is grounded in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFCT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy. She takes a client-centred, strengths-based, and trauma-informed approach, emphasizing safety, trust, collaboration, and creating a supportive space where clients can explore their experiences and emotions at a pace that feels comfortable for them.

Joanne provides individual counselling for children, teenagers, and adults, as well as couples counselling and parenting support. She works with clients who may be navigating anxiety, big emotions, relationship challenges, family changes, parenting concerns, or the everyday challenges of growing and adapting. With her combined background in clinical counselling and behaviour analysis, Joanne looks beyond behaviour to understand the emotions, relationships, experiences, and underlying needs that may be beneath it.

Joanne began her career as a behaviour specialist in 2007 and has designed individualized programs for children and youth ages 2–19 on the autism spectrum and with developmental differences.

She has worked closely with families, schools, and multidisciplinary teams to support children's development, emotional well-being, social skills, and overall functioning.

Joanne strives to create a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where clients feel heard, respected, supported, and empowered. She works collaboratively with each client to develop meaningful goals and strategies that encourage greater self-understanding, resilience, healthier relationships, and positive change.

Joanne is fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin and offers counselling sessions both in person and online.
